Sustainability

  • For the Bierbaum group, as a family company in its 4th generation, the topic of sustainability is not only a key word, but a company principle - in the responsibility towards the preceding and following generations. As the leading German manufacturer, Bierbaum feels committed to this philosophy in the following 3 key fundamental principles

    •   social sustainability
    •   ecological sustainability and
    •   economic sustainability

As a member of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (www.bsci-intl.org), Bierbaum has an influence on the international procurement markets for yarns and raw fabrics. As a matter of priority, it concerns the implementation of the ILO conventions, the UN Human Rights Declaration as well as the UN conventions on the rights of children as well as against discrimination of women (->code of conduct).

By using African cotton through the CmiA project, Cotton made in Africa (www.cotton-made-in-africa.com) Bierbaum is contributing towards the sufficient earnings of African cotton farmers and associations.

Through the use of bio cotton and the constant certification of all production stages according to the “Global Organic Textile Standard”, Bierbaum is supporting the efforts to improve ecological cultivation conditions (www.global-standard.org).

    • All Bierbaum employees are paid according to the valid collective bargaining law and are socially secured in the best way (including protection against dismissal).
